Thief Cleans Out Coin Laundromats

Police believe the suspect may have robbed at least six coin laundries in the St. Petersburg area.

St. Petersburg Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in a series of burglaries at coin Laundromats in St. Petersburg.

Detectives have released a video of the suspect, taken during a burglary to a coin laundry at 6400 5 Ave. South during the early morning hours of Feb. 9.

According to police, the suspect is a white male, possibly in his thirties, 5'5" to 5'8," dark wavy hair, clean shaven, wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark pants and light-colored sneakers.

The suspect, police said, arrived at the scene on a mountain bike.

Police said the suspect attempted to pry open a dryer's coin box with a screwdriver, but fled when an alarm sounded.

No property was taken in this case; however detectives believe that the same suspect may be responsible for as many as six other similar burglaries to coin laundries in the St. Petersburg area.
