Police: Man Shot, Suspect at Large

Officers say the driver allegedly drove by the victim and fired several shots.

Kevin Carl Valenting, 25, of St. PEte is being treated at Bayfront Medical Center after being shot several times in the leg, police say.

According to St. Petersburg Police, witnesses saw a black male driver in a cherry red Volvo drive by the victim and fire multiple rounds with a handgun. It happened just before 2 p.m. at 16th Ave S and 35th St. S. Thursday afternoon, according to a media release.

Officers spotted the vehicle getting on I-275 from 22nd Ave S. and following the car until it was lost near Roosevelt Blvd. N. 

A short time later, officers found the unoccupied car in the parking lot of Bel-Air Apartment Complex at 1200 102 Ave North.

According to police, the victim has not been cooperative in the investigation and identity of the suspect remains unknown. 

The only description of the suspect is a black male last seen wearing an unknown color ball cap.
