Police: Marijuana Deal Gone Awry Leads to Attempted Homicide

The victim is in critical, but stable condition. The suspect has been charged with attempted second-degree homicide.

An early Monday morning marijuana deal turned violent after a St. Petersburg man was shot multiple times following an argument, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police said an altercation between 26-year-old Rashad Jackson and 20-year-old Antez McLehan Jr. ended with Jackson shot and taken to All Children's Hospital.

Jackson, police said, went to McLehan's home to buy weed.

When the argument ensued McLehan went into his home to grab a .40-caliber handgun. Police said when he came back outside he shot Jackson several times who was standing in the driveway.

According to police, they received a call of a person shot around 2 a.m. Monday at 4212 Cortez Way S. When they arrived officers found blood in the driveway but no victim.

Police said after McLehan Jr. allegedly shot Jackson, he took him to All Children's and dropped him off. When McLehan Jr. returned home police arrested him.

Jackson has been transferred to Bayfront Medical Center where he is in critical, but stable condition.

McLehan Jr. is charged with attempted second-degree homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
