Update: Teen Shot Several Times in The Face, Police Say

St. Petersburg Police are investigating an alleged shooting that happened near 59th Ave S. and 31st St. S. Tuesday afternoon.

A St. Petersburg teen was taken to Bayfront Medical Center Tuesday afternoon in critical condition and was later taken to surgery, according to St. Petersburg Police.

St. Petersburg Detectives say a dispute between the 17-year-old victim and the suspect, Dallan Steven Bolden, 17, of St. Petersburg, escalated from a physical confrontation to a shooting around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near 59th Ave S and 31st St. S.

During the fight, Bolden produced a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and shot the victim several times in the face, arm and torso, according to police.

According to officials, the victim collapsed near the curb as Bolden took off and went to a home at 6055 30th St. S. Police say a witness told officers where Bolden was and he was arrested without resistance. 

Dallan Steven Bolden was arrested and will be charged with aggravated battery, according to police. 

The investigation is still ongoing. Both the victim and the suspect are familiar with each other and have prior felony arrests.

A teen is undergoing surgery at Bayfront Medical Center after he was shot several times, police say.

According to St. Petersburg Police, the shooting happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of 59th Ave S and 31st S.

Officials believe the 17-year-old male victim and the suspect got in a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect allegedly produced a handgun and shot the victim several times.

As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, officials had not released the name of the suspect and reported that the victim was in surgery.
