St. Pete Man Charged in Armed Bank Robbery

A St. Petersburg man accused of using a firearm to rob a Clearwater bank is in custody, authorities report.

A St. Petersburg man accused of using a firearm to rob a Clearwater bank is in custody, authorities report.

Anthony Eugene Sutton, 37, of the 5200 block of 5th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg, is accused of entering the City-County Employees Credit Union, 719 S. Missouri Ave., around 9:20 a.m. on June 13, displaying a gun and demanding money from the bank teller, according to Clearwater Police detectives.

Sutton is charged with felony robbery with a deadly weapon or firearm on July 4 while in jail on the following separate felony charges: fleeing and eluding, car jacking and attempted car jacking received on July 1. 

Sutton is in custody at Pinellas County Jail on $260,000 bond.
