St. Pete Motorcyclist Sustains Serious Injuries In July 4 Crash

A St. Petersburg man is in critical condition after being ejected from his motorcycle July 4, authorities report.

St. Petersburg Police say Justin Lee Morrison, 24, was headed westbound on 36th Avenue North while driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:09 p.m., police say Morrison approached a bend in the road in the 4700 block and tried to slow down, but lost control of his motorcycle. The right side of the vehicle hit the ground, causing Morrison to eject from the motorcycle.

Both Morrison and the motorcycle continued to skid along the road for about 100 feet before coming to a rest, police say.

Morrison was not wearing a helmet, police say, and sustained serious injuries.

Morrison was taken to Bayfront Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
