St. Pete Woman Dies After Being Struck by Car

Margherita Trupiano was struck by a vehicle and killed at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Majestic Way.

A car crash in South Pasadena claimed the life of an 83-year-old St. Petersburg woman Monday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Margherita Trupiano was walking across Pasadena Avenue west at the crosswalk at Majestic Way, when a Ford Econo-Line Van driven by 54-year Emile Daniel of St. Petersburg struck her.

Daniel was traveling north on Pasadena Avenue and in the curbside lane.

Deputies said Trupiano had just stepped into crosswalk when the vehicle struck her.

Trupiano was transported to Bayfront Medical Center by ambulance for
treatment of life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:06 p.m. Trupiano lived on Shore Drive South in St. Petersburg

Authorities say neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in this case. The Major Accident Investigation Team of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
