A pedestrian was hospitalized with life threatening injuries Sunday, after police say she ran into traffic and was hit by a motorcycle.
Anastasia Angelakopoulos, 52, was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center after the collision occurred in the 3100 block of 66th Street North.
According to police, Angelakopoulos was crossing 66th Street North from east to west at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. She walked across to the median and stopped, waiting for traffic to pass.
But then police said that she ran out into the path of a motorcycle driven by Antonio Silvestri, 18, as she tried to finish crossing the street.
According to police:
"Silvestri attempted to avoid the collision, but he was unable to do so. The front of the motorcycle impacted Angelakopoulos, throwing her several feet to the roadway and ejecting Silvestri from his motorcycle."
Silvestri of St. Petersburg was also taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.
