St. Petersburg Man Dead After Crash

Frank Benedetti was unresponsive after the crash and was taken to St. Pete General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A St. Petersburg man is dead after he suffered an apparent medical emergency while driving and struck a light pole on 66th Street North Tuesday, Sept. 10. 

According to police, 55-year-old Frank Benedetti was driving a 1964 Ford Thunderbird northbound on 66th Street North at 38th Avenue North when witnesses saw Benedetti driving, "through a solid red light at a very slow speed."

Police said witnesses said he was slumped over in the driver's seat when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole along the curb.

Benedetti was unresponsive after the crash and was taken to St. Pete General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
