Suspected Serial Bank Robber Arrested

Wesley Andrew Fox, 27, is accused of robbing two Clearwater PNC Banks and one in St. Petersburg. Authorities have not said if he is a suspect in a fourth PNC Bank robbery in Largo and the robbery of a New Port Richey credit union.

Clearwater Police detectives think they've found the culprit behind two armed robberies at local PNC banks.

Wesley Andrew Fox, 27, is charged with two counts of armed bank robbery and kidnapping in connection with armed robberies at the PNC Bank at 2498 Gulf to Bay Blvd. on May 26 and the PNC Bank at 2575 Countryside Blvd. on June 19.

Fox caught the attention of Clearwater Police after he was arrested for a bank robbery in St. Petersburg Friday.

St. Petersburg Police arrested Fox after witnessing an unusual chain of events. Detectives say they saw him place something over his face as he entered a PNC bank at 3801 49th St at 5:57 p.m. Friday. A short time later, detectives say they saw Fox run out of the bank and to car. Detectives stopped him before he could drive away. They say Fox had a hand gun and a large amount of cash with him. A short time later, bank employees told police that a robbery had just occurred. No one was injured during the robbery.

Fox is charged with one count of armed bank robbery in connection with Friday's St. Petersburg PNC bank robbery. St. Petersburg Police say Fox is a transient, however the Pinellas County Jail booking report lists him as having a Clearwater address.

Authorities have not said if they think Fox is a suspect in the robbery of a PNC Bank in Largo and a credit union in New Port Richey. They had previously offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who they thought robbed the two Clearwater PNC Banks mentioned above, the PNC Bank in Largo and the Florida Central Credit Union in New Port Richey.
