Woman Falls to Her Death from 3rd-Floor Balcony
Police are describing the incident as suspicious.
A 24-year-old woman plunged to her death from a third-floor corridor balcony at the Madison condominium complex in downtown St. Petersburg after midnight Friday.
St. Petersburg detectives described the death of Alexandra A. Gardner of St. Petersburg as suspicous. The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the upscale complex, at 100 4th Ave. S.
Gardner was not a resident of the building but visiting an unidentified male friend. The victim's friend said he tried to grab Gardner as she started to fall but lost his grip.

Police said Gardner might have been attempting to gain entry into her friend's locked apartment from the apartment's corridor balcony.
The cause and manner of death are pending the Medical Examiner's report. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

According to the police report, she lived in an apartment building on South Village Drive, near Roosevelt Boulevard and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
According to records from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Gardner was charged in March with Disorderly Intoxication, a misdemeanor, and with Driving Under the Influence on Oct. 4, 2009.
