Woman Found Dead on Gandy Beach ID'd

The sheriff's office has ID'd the woman as 51-year-old Pamela Sue Simon. Detectives say the death is not suspicious in nature.

A 51-year-old St. Petersburg woman was found dead at about 7:10 a.m. Feb. 21 on Gandy Beach.  

According to detectives, a passerby walking along the area discovered the body
and called 911.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said Pamela Sue Simon, 7230 4th Street North, was found in an inlet near mangroves, just east of the Banana Boat.

First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiners Office has conducted an autopsy and the final determination of cause and manner of death is pending toxicology reports, according to authorities.

The sheriff's office says the death is not believed to be suspicious in nature; and may be health and/or alcohol or drug related.
