5 Things You Need to Know Today: Rays Are Back. So Is the Rain.

More rain in store today. Tampa Bay Rays play the Reds at Home. Deadline today for municipal candidates.

 1.) Interleague Play: The Tampa Bay Rays are finally back at the Trop, where they play the first of three against the Cincinnati Reds, from the National League. The game begins at 7:10 p.m. Go to www.tampabayrays.com.

2.) Deadline for Candidates: Anyone wanting to run for City Council needs to file papers by 5 p.m. today, the deadline for qualifying to be a candidate in municipal contests.

3.) Social Networking and Blogging for Business: Social networks, like Facebook and Twitter, and blogs are free tools that can do wonders for publicizing a business. But you need to know how to use them. That's what is all about. It starts at 2 p.m. Admission is $20.

4.) Homeless Leadership Meet: A coalition of advocates, providers and municipal leaders who make up the Homeless Leadership Network meet  at 8:30 this morning at the Suncoast Hospice of Florida in Clearwater. Councilors Leslie Curran and Jeff Danner are scheduled to represent St. Pete.

 

5.) Here Comes the Rain Again: Parched lawns in St. Pete certainly needed the wet weather. But enough already! More rainy weather is in store today. Expect numeours thunder showers, according to the National Weather Service. There may be strong, gusty winds in low-lying areas. Boaters should take precautions and also be aware of possible water spouts.
