City Closings, Trash Delays on Tap for MLK Holiday Week

The following is a news release from the city of St. Petersburg: 


Due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, there are two changes for residential trash collection days for St. Petersburg customers during the week of January 20 to 24:    

  • Monday collections will be made on Tuesday. 
  • Tuesday collections will be on Wednesday. 

St. Petersburg government facilities closed to the public on Monday, January 20 include City Hall and Municipal Services Center downtown, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, The Greenhouse (formerly Business Assistance Center), Coliseum* box office and business offices, Enoch Davis Center, Jamestown Apartments and Townhomes office and Dwight H. Jones Neighborhood Center, public libraries, six recreation centers (Campbell Park, Childs Park, Frank Pierce, Wildwood, Bay Vista, and Azalea), Sunken Gardens business office, and Sunshine Center. 

St. Petersburg city facilities that are OPEN for business on Monday, January 20 include three public golf courses (Mangrove Bay, Cypress Links & Twin Brooks), Mahaffey Theater/Duke Energy Center for the Arts box office and business office, municipal beach concession stand on Treasure Island, Municipal Marina Ship's Store, North Shore Aquatic Complex, seven recreation centers including Playcamp sites, Sanitation Department Brush Sites and Sunken Gardens attraction.

* The Coliseum will be open Monday morning for the 28th Annual MLK Leadership Awards Breakfast, beginning at 7:30 a.m. January 20.
