Council Member to Host 'Lens' Q&A

The Q&A will be at 6:30 p.m. July 10 in the Garden Room at Sunken Garden, 1825 4th St. N.

Wednesday evening, council member Leslie Curran will host a public information session regarding the "Lens" pier design to "clarify some of the issues associated with the new St. Petersburg Pier.'

The Q&A will be at 6:30 p.m. July 10 in the Garden Room at Sunken Garden, 1825 4th St. N.

Curran, who served on the five-person pier jury that selected the "Lens", has continued to say the public is misinformed about the new pier design.

"I don’t think people have heard or have been educated as they need to be," Curran said of the "Lens" at the June 20 council meeting.

She said people come up to her and say there will be no shade, no restrooms and nowhere to eat on the "Lens", which she said is not true.

St. Petersburg voters will vote on the city's contract with Michael Maltzan Architecture to build the "Lens" on the Aug. 27 primary election.
