Embattled District 8 Candidate Has His Wife's Vote

Pamela Cichon defended husband Steve Galvin, after a Tampa Bay Times article noted that he was not truthful on a candidate's questionnaire.

District 8 City Council candidate Steve Galvin has his wife's vote, even as his campaign deals with the fallout from a Tampa Bay Times article headlined: "St. Petersburg City Council candidate lies about lawsuit and paternity."

The Aug. 2, 2013, article by Anna M. Phillips notes that Galvin wrote on a newspaper questionnaire that he did not have children and has never been sued, when – in fact – he had fathered a child in 2004 and subsequently was sued for child support.

According to the Times, Pamela Cichon, who is the candidate's wife and an assistant attorney for the city of St. Petersburg, emailed Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long to protest the article.

"Stephen is still in the race to win it," Cichon wrote, "and the calls of support we have received --even from some elected officials--have been really great and give him the energy to push on."

Cichon also wrote that her husband "does not feel the Times should be privy to every irrelevant issue in his past and all the article showed that was relevant was that he has faithfully paid his child support which was reached by agreement."
