Largo Fire Chief Under Investigation

The reasons behind the internal investigation of Largo Fire Chief Mike Wallace are not clear, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Largo Fire Chief Mike Wallace is the subject of an internal investigation, though the reasons are not clear, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The city's HR director, Susan Sinz, who is overseeing the probe, said the investigation could be finished sometime this week, according to the Times. Wallace and other officials declined to comment to the newspaper while the investigation was under way.

As chief, Wallace oversees the department's 134 sworn firefighters and seven civilian employees, according to the city's website.

Wallace, 57, took over as chief in October 2007, the Times reports.

This is a story? Leave our firefighters alone unless the results of the review come up with something. Otherwise you are just spreading innuendos.

Thanks for the feedback, John. We consider an internal investigation of a public official to be news, and we'll be sure to follow up with the results, whatever they are, when they become available.

Who is this "air head" that does not think government employees should not be investigated. I live in a mobile home park where about 100 residents want to know how the fire department can say a mobile home fire was an electrical fire, when there was no meter in the box for over a month and the person who was living there had moved before being evicted for pulling a gun on a neighbor which turned out to be a replica of a 357 magnum. He was arrested. A detective Keeler was given a tape recording of the man saying he burn down the mobile home before the park could rent or sell it. It was finally burnt to the ground 10 days later. Another mobile home across the street caught fire while empty and the fire department said it was an electrical fire at a newly installed central air conditioner. The same man said, "I will burn it to the ground before they rent or sell it to "Mexicans or Black people". One week later it burnt. Hows that Johnny boy????
