Survey Says 'Refurbish Existing Pier'

What's next for the St. Pete Pier? StPetePolls wants to know what you think in its latest poll.

St. Petersburg voters shot down the "Lens" pier design with a 63.35 percent vote to cancel the city's contract with Michael Maltzan Architecture Tuesday night.

While the mayor's 828 Alliance is expected to submit a pier selection process to St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster tonight, StPetePolls is conducting a survey asking people what they think should be done next.

As of 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, 140 votes were cast with the majority choosing to refurbish the existing pier.

Following in second place is a call for brand new designs. Voting on recent designs came in third with demolishing the pier and not replacing it as the least favorite response.
