Shake the New Chief's Hand

St. Petersburg residents and business owners are invited to meet the new top cop this Saturday.

While Clearwater residents have had four years to get to know Anthony Holloway, he’s not as familiar to some of the folks in St. Petersburg where he’s been named as the newest leader of the city’s finest.

That’s why the City of St. Petersburg is holding a meet-and-greet with the newly appointed police chief this Saturday, July 26. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the St. Petersburg Museum of History, 335 2nd Avenue, N.E.

Holloway is a Hillsborough County native, but spent the last four years leading the Clearwater Police Department. While he’s quite familiar with North Pinellas County, Holloway is lesser known on his new beat. That’s something the new chief recently told the Tampa Bay Times he wanted to remedy as quickly as possible.

“My biggest job is to get to know the officers and get to know the community,” the Times quoted him as saying.

Residents who want to head out to meet the new chief will find free parking available to them in the museum’s adjacent lot, which was formerly called the “Dolphin” lot.
