Stand Your Ground Law Hearing Today

The first in a series of public forums on Florida's Stand Your Ground gets under way today.

 A daylong meeting that looks at Florida's Stand Your Ground Law and invites public comments is under way today in Longwood, Florida.

The public meeting features law enforcement officials, attorneys and experts on the state's self-defense law, which has come under scrutiny since the shooting death of Sanford teenager Trayvon Martin.

Guest speakers include Det. Mike Bailey of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The meeting includes comments from the public. People will direct comments to a task force assigned to review the law. The public is also invited to provide input by contacting the task force through the website www.FLGov.com/citizensafety or by e-mailing CitizenSafety@eog.myflorida.com.
