Opening Reception: Genocide and Human Rights Awareness Month

The museum's annual initiative to build public awareness and encourage discussion about the conflicts in Darfur and Congo and past genocides and human-rights violations begins this evening with a lecture by Michael Berenbaum, a professor of Jewish Studies at the American Jewish University.

Among his accomplishments, Berenbaum was director of the United States Holocaust Research Institute at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and oversaw that museum’s creation.  He also served as deputy director of the President's Commission on the Holocaust.

A reception of wine and hors d'oeuvres precedes the lecture.
