USF St. Pete Named Top 30 Public University in the South

U.S. News & World released its results on Wednesday. In 2012, USF St. Pete was ranked 36th.

According to the U.S. News & World, USF St. Petersburg is one of the top 30 universities in the south.

The publication released its results Wednesday, which was an improvement for USF St Pete who was ranked 36th last year. 

"USF St. Petersburg is really on the move,'' said Interim Regional Chancellor Bill Hogarth in a news release. "This is just the latest example of the progress this university has made in recent years. I am proud of our faculty, students and staff for the hard work and dedication that made this happen.''

USF St. Petersburg is a separately accredited institution within the USF System, offering master's level and undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences, business and education in a student-centered environment.

According to a news release, new programs this fall include biology, which has attracted 400 students, and an online master's degree in digital journalism and design. Popular undergraduate degree programs include accounting, education, psychology, entrepreneurship and finance.

The U.S. News and World Report rankings methodology considers many factors including, peer assessment, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance, alumni giving and retention.

USF St. Petersburg this year is ranked 67th overall among public and private regional universities in the South.
