Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Summer Camps

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve offers week-long camps for ages 3 to 13 from June 11 through Aug. 17. The “Jungle Boogie” camp for ages 3 and 4 lasts a half-day; the other camps last full days, with extended care available for an additional fee. Some programs are discounted for Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and Pinellas Pioneer Settlement members.

Jungle Boogie (ages 3 and 4; must be potty-trained; 9am to 12pm only): Includes nature stories, songs, games, crafts, and hikes to explore the outdoors.

Herpetology (ages 7 to 11): Learn about reptiles and amphibians through close encounters with gopher tortoises, frogs, lizards, and snakes.

Wildlife Ecology (ages 7 to 11): Campers practice “nature detective skills” through a blend of classroom and field sessions with hands-on activities, guest presentations, and exploration of the preserve’s habitats.

  • July 2 to 6 only

Pioneer Camp (ages 7 to 13; held at the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement, 3100 31st St. S.): Learn team-building, leadership and self-esteem through activities and hands-on experiences such as working in the blacksmith shop and the print shop.

Nature Adventure Camp (ages 7 to 13; held at the preserve’s Environmental Studies Area, 2900 31st St. S.): Learn about Florida’s unique habitats and their inhabitants, get dirty during dip-netting, observe wildlife while hiking preserve trails, and acquire basic birding skills. Includes a field trip.
