Support for Greenlight Grows

Cities and municipalities across Pinellas County now support Greenlight Pinellas, and major businesses have also endorsed the plan to increase bus services and build a light rail line between St. Petersburg and Clearwater. A recent poll showed a 20% lead in favor of Greenlight Pinellas. People want better public transit in congested Pinellas County, and they are beginning to see the benefits of this ambitious plan.

Greenlight Pinellas will increase bus services by 65%. Weekend and nighttime service will increase by 80%. Commuters, students, and tourists will no longer be stranded at the end of a bus line, because there will be many additional routes and a complete reworking of the county's bus services.  There'll be express bus services to Tampa International Airport, Westshore, and downtown Tampa. Rapid Bus Corridors will be built, state-of-the-art green buses will be added, and a new light rail line with 16 stations will bring Pinellas County into the 21st century.

What does this all mean? There will be a significant decrease in air pollution and traffic congestion as thousands begin to use more public transit. People will save money on gas and wear and tear on their vehicles. Those that cannot afford their own transportation, and there are many that can't, will have several additional new bus routes to choose from. Jobs across the county will now be accessible to more employees. Commerce will increase throughout the county with all the new transportation options, and thousands of jobs will be created as the new plan is implemented and the new rail line and stations are built.
