5 Weekend Events in St. Pete

From the dog paddle to the downward dog, there's something for everyone this weekend in the 'burg.

1.) Doggie Swim Day: Take your pooch for a dip in Fossil Park Pool, 6739 Dr. M.L. King Jr. St. N. That's right, the end-of-summer doggie splash is happening once again, with pool time for pups Saturday, 9 to 10:30 a.m; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m; or 1 to 2:30 p.m. Let your dog off leash for a dip before the pools close for the summer. Proof of vaccines required. $5 per dog, humans free. www.stpeteparksrec.org

2.) Dinner + All That Jazz at the Museum: The main course comes after dinner, as the summer Jazz Series continues at the Museum of Fine Arts on Friday, 6:30 p.m., with the New York Guitar Cats. Admission is $5 members, $10 nonmembers. It includes the exhibitions in the Hazel Hough Wing. The MFA Café will also be open for dinner. 3.) Fitness Awareness Throwdown: What's a Fitness Awareness Throwdown? you may ask. It's a competition of strength, muscle, endurance and just plain fun. Come find out for yourself, when Jony Reno's, at the Pier, sponsors the event at noon Saturday. At the very least, stroll along the Pier and have lunch; it may not be around much longer! Admission to the Throwdown is $15.

4.) Let Them Drink Tea: The Vinoy is the place to be for honoring the passage of the 19th Amendment, the Women's Suffrage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Business and Professional Women of St Petersburg will host a tea – and a hat competition. The Equality Day Tea is at 2 p.m. Saturday. Hats off, ladies! Admission: $31.50. 5.) Yoga, the Dali and Thee: Try your downward dog at the Dali Sunday, with yoga classes held at noon in the Community Room or Avant-Garden with relaxing views of the waterfront. Cost is $15, $10 if you're a member. It's BYOM (bring your own mat).
