Boat Crash at Fort DeSoto Injures One

A boat crash Friday night off Bunces Pass has resulted in a serious injury.

One man was seriously injured Friday evening, when the Mako boat he was riding in ran into a green navigational marker at Fort DeSoto, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission reported Friday night that it was working on an accident involving the single vessel, which was carrying five people when it crashed.

The accident happened at about 6 p.m., near Bunces Pass, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Authorities say described the accident as alcohol related, according to the newspaper.

The injured man was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was in critical condition. Authorities seized the boat and marker as part of their investigation.
