Half-Marathon Rocks St. Pete

The Rock n Roll Half-Marathon brought thousands of participants and supporters to downtown St. Petersburg on Sunday.

Preparations for the debut event have been in the works for more than a year. made its way to the streets of downtown St. Petersburg on Sunday.

The race started promptly at 7:30 a.m. near the Trop. From there, participants ran a 13.1 mile loop throughout the downtown area. From Central Ave and to the and , runners experienced a true taste of the history that St. Pete has to offer.

Temperatures were in the low 40's at the starting line.

At each mile marker in the race, stages were set up for local rock bands to perform on.

Hip Hop artist, , put on a family friendly show at North Shore Park at 10 a.m. He kept the high energy from the finish line going with chart toppers like "Low" and "You Spin me Round."
