On Tuesday morning Janet Wright and her two daughters received the keys to their new home; the 250th home dedicated by Habitat Pinellas.
The home, located near 15th Avenue North and 26th Street North, was sponsored by proceeds from Habitat Pinellas’ 2011 gala fundraising event, Hammers & Heartstrings Ball. The land for the Wright home was provided by SunTrust Bank, according to Habitat Pinellas.
“We could not have reached this significant milestone without the support of our Pinellas community,” said Steve Lightburn, Vice President Development for Habitat Pinellas in a news releae.
“It is because of the physical labor of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the support from our local and state government, that Habitat for Humanity continues to succeed in its mission to provide affordable housing for struggling, low-income families," Lightburn added. "We are successful because of the camaraderie and relationships that people ‘build’ when coming together to benefit the families in our community.
The 250 homes that Habitat Pinellas has built since its inception in 1985 are located in nine major municipalities in Pinellas County, a news release said.
