Originally located on Central Avenue, Durty Nelly's moved to its Baywalk location in early 2010. It is one of the most popular drinking spots in downtown St. Petersburg, with large crowds that come for cheap pitchers of beer and a happening nightlife scene. There is a large dance floor in front of the stage where DJs and live bands perform throughout the week. When downtown St. Pete I used to like making a stop at Durty Nelly's, never again. That place has gone way downhill. The name/sign leads one to believe it is still an Irish bar. Went in last night and all the Irish decor has been removed from the walls and replaced with chalkboards that people write on. The bathroom used to have an attendant ready with a towel or a mint, now just holes in the walls and stall door. Used to be able to hear a good mix of music from rock to reggae, now strictly hip hop. Used to be able to sit on some nice bar stools, now they only have chairs with high top tables. So you can sit but you can't see over the bar and the one chair we got had a condemn under it, and it wasn't in a wrapper. Finally over it when I had to wait for a drink while the bartenders packed a hookah pipe. All that for only a $5 cover
