WFTI broadcasts a Christian-based, noncommercial format that features American hymns. Its parent company is California-based Family Radio, which owns similar stations across the nation. Offices for the St. Petersburg station are based in a high-rise building on Central Avenue.

Family Radio has a popular call-in show called "Open Forum," in which station president/founder Harold Camping responds to listener questions about the Bible and Christian teachings. Camping forecasts on his radio shows and Web site that "Judgment Day" is May 21, 2011. His network of radio stations is listener-supported. In St. Petersburg, the broadcast can be heard on FM-91.7.
