I think that what she (and her sister) are doing is WONDERFUL, but, sorry, I don't see anyRead More resemblance, at all. She's got the blonde hair; that's it. Still, it's sweet for them to do this for sick kids.

Yes indeed! A free or some nominal charge for county folk would really be the way to go. Back whenRead More the Bounty was docked here a family paid full price one time a year with proper ID. Why not bring the "culture" to the locals? When these "free" days do come around the huge lines seem to mimic the voting lines of recent history.

Francine. This article was ''not'' just about downtown St Pete. St Petersburg is much bigger thanRead More you seem to know. Frankly, you sound like you are basing what you know about the restaurants here on what a person can see while only riding a bus. I think I disagree with absolute every sentence you wrote...and that is rare. Yes...there are better cities than here...but that is most just a matter of opinion. Nobody is trying to say we are the best in the country...but we certainly are not as bad as this article says. If anything...we are ''equal'' to many other great cities to eat in...and that fact puts St Pete on a very good list...''not'' a bad one. This article is ''false''. I suspect you simply do not like to live here. If you don't ''like'' where you live, then it is hard to see past that and see only negative things. We are relatively new here, but have a hard time understanding anyone who disses living here. I would bet money you are the type of person who lives here , but ''will only'' go from one air conditioned place to another. We are OK with the heat and humidity here...we are used to it...but we also understand how some people hate it. We are just not like that. One thing is for sure....if you hate heat and humidity...then this area would be easy to dislike.

@CJ - Quite the contrary. Just moved here. I've been to about 30 US cities and seven internationalRead More destinations in the last 18 months and I have lived in or spent significant time in Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, LA, Denver, Detroit and Albuquerque/Santa Fe. I eat at home more now because I don't like having to go downtown for a decent meal. While I love the local places near me in Kenwood I can't say there's much foodie goodness. I even get excited about good pizza at Cappy's, but one cannot live on pizza alone. I'm hopeful about new comers and think small indie places are the best thing since sliced bread. Chains are of zero interest to me and I would nearly kill for a destination wine oriented restaurant on this side of the HF bridge.

Kellie. I already stated we go out several nights each week for dinner...plus numerous lunches.Read More Sometime each night of the week...and often lunch and dinner the same day. We are ''foodies''. We go all over St Petersburg, Pinellas County...and venture out from there also...to Tampa, south over the Skyway, Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Dunedin, etc. We also travel, and your list of travels is modest compared to ours. If you have the opinion you do of the restaurants in our area...you are not going to these places with the right person. Either ''you'' or who you are with don't know where to do. Your claim and anyone else's that this story is true is ridiculous. One thing is for sure...this is a ''very'' difficult place to live and stay on a diet. I am not saying our area is any better than some of the places you listed...but I am saying it is equal to them...or so very darn close the difference is hardly worth arguing over. I suggest you do not like the restaurant better in the cities you mentioned, because you like the cities them selves better. if you don't like living her, then it is only logical you would have little good to say about the restaurant either. Our metro area, and all of Florida for that matter, are not for everyone. If you dislike our heat and humidity, then I can understand how you feel. We are fine with it and moved here from someplace that was also hot a humid. I also want to add that many of the cities you mentioned...you better take a lot more money with you to eat in them than what you need here. If you think ''Cappy's'' has the ''best'' pizza here...New York style or otherwise...then you are just showing how little you really know about eating here. They are good...but ''the best''? That's jus plain silly to say that. Finding a ''wine oriented'' place is not ''that'' hard to do. Are you serious? All you are looking for is a good restaurant with good wine? I am sure many here could give you a very long list of place you would surely compliment. Maybe you should start drinking a bottle before you even head out the door and loosen up about St Pete? :)

Great news and thanks for reporting. I truly appreciate this novelty for the Museum: "WindowsRead More facing Beach Drive will also be replaced with energy-efficient, storm-rated glass, encouraging visitors to look inside, day and night." Beach Drive is such a great strolling place to enjoy a night walk - this shall bring more folks to come in during opening hours. Great idea for all.
