Whenever a new advocacy group pops up for a potential major project effort, especially if the project is in Pinellas County and the Group is mostly headquartered in Tampa, it gets my attention.

Breast Cancer Awareness
Money was raised and memories made at the recent Suncoast Komen Race for the Cure to benefit breast cancer research.
On Saturday, the 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 10K and 5K events were held in downtown St. Petersburg.

The Jim Rosenkrans Memorial Toy Run was a benefit to help disadvantaged kids in Pinellas County schools, but it also honored a St. Pete Harley bike shop owner who passed away.
The big race was a half-marathon but there also was a 5K, bringing 7,000 runners and walkers downtown for the event, which raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
