Resources for women fighting breast cancer that your doctor doesn't offer.
By the nature of its side effects, cancer treatment can make a private battle a very public affair. For a woman with cancer, having a bald head, pale skin or a missing breast can make her feel like she's being targeted by a bright spotlight and a banner that says, "Cancer patient." No we're not talking about a funky new topping. A pizza chain with shops in west central Florida is helping in the fight against breast cancer.

Hungry Howie's Love, Hope & Pizza campaign is raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), which is ranked in the top three percent of charities in America. NBCF’s mission is to provide mammograms to women in need and offer educational resources such as Beyond The Shock®. Last October, Hungry Howie’s raised over $225,000 for NBCF. This October the goal is to raise $250,000 with Hungry Howie’s well on its way at 63 percent of its goal to date. Vinyl from last year’s Love, Hope & Pizza billboards was recycled to create tote bags to promote the campaign and raise money for NBCF. The tote bags are being utilized by media as giveaways. In addition, totes may be purchased from G2 GreenGear with a donation being made to NBCF…

St. Petersburg's State Theatre hosted a rock show to raise money to fight breast cancer. A son was inspired by his mother's struggles.
ST. PETERSBURG – A charity rock show inspired by a woman's fight against breast cancer was staged at State Theatre Saturday night. Mary Zambrotto has been battling breast cancer for three years, with surgery and then radiation. She is now cancer-free. "She's using alternative medicine as well as conventional," explained John. "She's been clear for a couple months now." To acknowledge his survivor mom, son John Zambrotto decided to put on a charity event to raise money and awareness about the struggles of breast cancer patients and their families.
