Power Lounging at Chillounge

The outdoor cabanas, cash bars, gourmet food, live entertainment, models and fireworks display make it all worthwhile. Chillounge takes power lounging to new heights.

Chillounge Night made its way to St. Pete Saturday night. Straub Park played host to the annual event and once again, Rainer Scheer pulled it off with style. Scheer thought up the outdoor event back in 2007. Four years later, Chillounge Night is a much-anticipated outdoor cocktail party in the park. So, what exactly is Chillounge? Well, for starters it’s a one-of-a-kind event that takes place in select cities around the U.S. The night promises party goers something different. Being a completely outdoor-based event is a gamble for Florida, considering how moody Mother Nature gets around this time of year. Instead of barstools, daybeds and cabanas are scattered throughout the park, so people can genuinely just “chill.” Chillounge takes the …

Party on the Plaza Is a Hit With Locals

The Mahaffey Theater invited folks to a pre-Chillounge after the Don Henley show.

“Party on the Plaza” made its debut Friday night, just after singer Don Henley retired his set at the Mahaffey. The best part of the event: It was free. The waterfront plaza was filled with cabanas, daybeds and lights, to boot. A fireworks display lit up the sky as concert goers were exiting from the concert that featured the former Eagles singer. Doug “DJ Fresh” Hensel was on hand to deliver dance-worthy tunes while guests soaked up the breeze of a cool November night. Hensel is a veteran to Chillounge Night, but was impressed with the way things turned out at the pilot run of Party on the Plaza. “You’ve got this event space sandwiched between two amazing venues, the Dali and the Mahaffey and then you’ve got the water a few feet away” he …

Chillounge Is Tonight in Downtown St. Pete

This is the fourth annual cocktail party under the stars, complete with cabanas and daybeds to keep guests comfy.

Grab a sweater or perhaps a cozy blanket. Chillounge Night is back. Enjoy cocktails and food and live music while lounging on an outdoor cabana or daybed, under the stars, in North Straub Park. Lounge areas are scattered throughout the park, so guests can find their own piece of comfort or enjoy their own private parties while mingling with everyone else. The trees will be strung with tiny white lights that illuminate the park once the sun goes down. So there is no chance that guests will not be able to see the waiters as they walk by with scrumptious food and drinks. Consider this an urban camping trip for well-heeled party goers, except for one thing. You do have to go home at the end of the night. No waking up to dew-covered cabanas in …
