St. Petersburg Cat Burglar Collared in Animal Hospital Case
The suspect admitted to robbing Central Animal Hospital and later trading a looted antique banjo and electronics for drugs.
ST. PETERSBURG – A cat burglar who took his sweet time robbing Central Animal Hospital, often glancing up at the security camera, was arrested after police released the video. Markus Weilyn Maly, 35, faces two charges of commercial burglary after St. Petersburg Police arrested him Thursday at his 48th Avenue North apartment. Police also retrieved from his apartment several items taken from the veterinary office. On July 20, burglary detectives released security camera video showing the suspect methodically removing cash from a receptionist's drawer, filling a garbage bag with electronics and leaving with a banjo case that contained an antique instrument.
