Publix Coupons Enter the Digital Age

The new tool will enable St. Petersburg area customers to present digital coupons at the checkout.

St. Pete area bargain hunters will soon have a new way to save in the Publix checkout line. The grocery retailer is poised to roll out its new digital coupons at stores throughout Central Florida over the next few weeks, according to The Tampa Tribune. The digital coupon program enables Publix shoppers to skip cutting out coupons to bring into the store. Instead, all they have to do is sign up for a free account, select their coupons online and then give the telephone number associated with their account in the checkout line. The coupons that match the purchases made will automatically be applied toward the bill, according to the Publix website. While the digital coupons will save customers from printing online coupons and might spare them…

Area Publix Stores Recall Cake Products

The recall affects 45 different products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Publix customers imay want to check the ID numbers on any cake products purchased from the store bakery. The grocery chain issued a recall on 45 different products distributed between Nov. 11 and Nov. 15 by Maplehurst, a private bakery supplier. According to a media release, there is a concern about a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This bacteria causes an illness that can be serious and even fatal in young children, elderly people and those with compromised immune systems. “While the product is no longer available on store shelves, we have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety and to advise our customers who may still have this product at home,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community …

Publix Deli Online Ordering Coming to St. Petersburg Stores

Publix will roll out electronic in-store ordering at several Tampa Bay area stores later this year, including stores in St. Petersburg. It is unclear if the South Pasadena Publix will be one of these stores.

It will soon be time to ditch that ticket waiting in line at the Publix deli. Publix announced today it will launch online ordering for its deli at some of its St. Petersburg stores, but it is unclear if the Publix location in South Pasadena will be one of those chosen stores. The first stores to roll out this method of ordering will have in-store electronic kiosks to place orders for meats, cheeses and Publix subs. "Our customers tell us they love Publix and love the products we provide, but they look for a way to get them quickly and easily," Publix spokeswoman Shannon Patten told Patch. The free feature will launch Aug. 3 at Lakeland's South Gate Shopping Center store, and will roll out to 50 additional stores by the end of this year, …

When will PUBLIX begin online ordering and DELIVERY service. Considering the elderly population and high income residents it seems to me Sarasota is an ideal place for such a service. I and many others hope they will implement a reasonable delivery soon. P. Kelly   more ›

St. Pete Pizza Burglar Gets 2nd Chance

The owner of Tour de Force Pizza agrees to let a teen planning to enter the military pay back the money he stole.

ST. PETERSBURG – The outgoing owner of Tour de Pizza in the Publix shopping center built the popularity of his shop largely on the power of personality, a solid reputation – and, of course, good food. Matt McClelland, a triathlete, even ate a strictly pizza diet for 30 days  to show the healthiness of the fresh ingredients on his pies. So when Tour de Force Pizza was broken into after-hours by a 17-year-old employee last week – with the crime caught on surveillance video – McClelland did what few other small business owners would consider: He gave the kid another chance. The unnamed teenager lost his job, but has agreed to pay back the money he stole plus damages, the store owner said Monday. McClelland, in turn, will not press charges. …
