St. Petersburg Police say the woman, 26, and man, 49, robbed someone at knifepoint, made him drive to an ATM machine to make a withdrawal, then took off with his SUV, which was later found burning and abandoned.
Police have arrested a woman and her boyfriend who they say were responsible for robbing and abducting a St. Petersburg man, using his bank card at an ATM to withdraw money, then burning an SUV they stole from him. Juliann Betancourt, 26, and Jeffrey Santiago, 49, were both taken into custody without incident by detectives around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of Fourth Street North, according to St. Petersburg Police. Detectives say Betancourt is the woman seen on security camera footage April 22 at an ATM machine at a TD Bank, withdrawing money from the 55-year-old victim's account. The woman and another suspect are accused of forcing a St. Petersburg man to ride with them at knifepoint as they made an ATM withdrawal using his bank card last month, police said.
Detectives are looking for a woman who they say used an ATM card that she and another suspect stole from a St. Petersburg man during an armed robbery and abduction last month. Security photos show the woman at the ATM at TD Bank, at 22nd Avenue North and 4th Street in St. Petersburg, around 3 a.m. April 22. The woman and another man are accused of taking the card from a 55-year-old man whom they had approached hours earlier outside his home in the 1700 block of 22nd Avenue North, according to St. Petersburg Police. The victim was "mildly acquainted" with the woman but had never before come into contact with the other man, police say. Police do not believe the suspect in today's robbery is connected to another SunTrust Bank robbery that happened Monday afternoon.
St. Petersburg Police say a man walked into the SunTrust Bank at 3100 Central Ave. around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. This less than 24 hours after a man robbed SunTrust Bank at 3601 34th St. N around 1:15 p.m. Monday. Investigators do not believe the suspect is the same man, as the descriptions differ. The man wanted in today's robbery is described as a black man, approximately 30 years old and 5'4" tall with a stocky build. He is clean shaven and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes. Police do not have information yet on a possible weapon or suspect vehicle.
