Officer Cleared in Fatal Shooting of St. Pete Woman

A state attorney has said Officer Christopher Dolch was justified in his shooting of Pamela Dale Kirk.

A St. Petersburg Police officer has been cleared by a Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney in the April 28 shooting death of Pamela Dale Kirk.  State attorney Bernie McCabe wrote in his ruling: "As a result of the investigation conducted by this office, I have determined that Officer Christopher Dolch was in the lawful performance of his legal duty when he responded to a call for a welfare check on Pamela Dale Kirk. When Pamela Dale Kirk pointed a firearm at Officer Dolch he had reason to believe that his life (was in danger)  "It is the conclusion of the State Attorney's Office that the death of Pamela Dale Kirk was the result of having been shot by Officer Christopher Dolch in the performance of his legal duty and the shooting was justifiable …

Fired St. Pete Police Officer Returns to Work

Officer Mehmedin Karic was fired in 2012 after his police cruiser crashed into a pedestrian while going 20 miles over the speed limit. An arbitrator has now ruled Karic should get his job back, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Traveling at 20 mph over the speed limit in his police car, officer Mehmedin Karic did not see Harold Fleming crossing 38th Avenue North near the intersection of 64th Street in his wheel chair in February 2012 when he crashed into Fleming. According to St. Petersburg Police, Fleming died from injuries he sustained in the crash.  In August 2012 Police Chief Chuck Harmon and The Chain of Command Board fired Karic because, "Officer Karic had no legal justification for speeding and was involved in a crash that resulted in a death," the report said.  Monday, Karic was back to work as a St. Petersburg Police officer after an arbitrator ruled he should get his job back and receive $35,000 in back pay, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Times…

Many want to have our police held to a higher standard, on and off the dangerous job they do. That said, a policeman must use good judgement. When that is not used they need to find other employment. I support our police as most do an outstanding job, but if they, themselves don't or won't hold the standard high . .. ... well you know the rest.   more ›

Maybe I should upload videos of School busses, City-owned vehicles, and yes, even Police Cars that are operated on a daily basis in an unsafe manner. Nobody cares! Let's all hide our heads in the sand. Another failure on the part of this City to see that its Traffic Laws are not observed by any but a few. The Police can't be everywhere but geez... you'd think they'd be somewhere. I hope the …   more ›

Updated, 4:02 p.m.: A man whose body was found in an arson fire at a St. Petersburg home died of blunt force trauma to his upper body prior to the Wednesday evening blaze, investigators said. The burglars are pretty stupid.. if you have home video surveillance that stores video online, tampering with the camera won't do anything. iWatchLife provides this service and we store video in a secure account online so if the camera gets broken, the video is still safe. A camera is only $150 and our service starts at just $5/month. http://www.iwatchlife.com   more ›
