UPDATE: Ex-Motel Security Guard Accused of Shooting Manager, Killing Self is ID'd

A man recently fired from his job and evicted from the New Plaza Motel in St. Petersburg shot wounded the manager, then turned the gun on himself, police said Tuesday.

Updated, 1:22 p.m.: Detectives have identified Anthony Graig Taylor, 45, as the man accused of shooting a manager at a St. Petersburg motel and then killing himself early Tuesday morning, St. Petersburg Police. Witnesses told police Taylor had worked as a security guard and was staying in one of the rooms at the New Plaza Motel but was fired about two months ago because he had gotten into "several confrontations" with motel patriots, St. Petersburg Police said on its Facebook page Tuesday. Taylor was still allowed to rent a room after his firing but had recently been told he was evicted because he was behind on his rent, police said. Officer in High-Speed Crash Is Suspended

The St. Petersburg Police officer was driving at 110 mph in a 40 mph zone when his vehicle struck a curb and flipped over.

St. Petersburg Police Officer Timothy Reyes has been suspended without pay for five days and ordered to attend remedial driving school, following an internal review of a high-speed car accident. The total damage from the crash, including to the cruiser, topped $30,000. Reyes' five-day suspension from work began on Tuesday, May 7. According to the police report, Reyes was traveling 110 mph in a 40 mph zone in his marked police cruiser, with his emergency equipment activated, while attempting to catch up to an authorized police pursuit in progress. Detectives: Woman Used Bank Card Stolen During Armed Robbery, Abduction

The woman and another suspect are accused of forcing a St. Petersburg man to ride with them at knifepoint as they made an ATM withdrawal using his bank card last month, police said.

Detectives are looking for a woman who they say used an ATM card that she and another suspect stole from a St. Petersburg man during an armed robbery and abduction last month. Security photos show the woman at the ATM at TD Bank, at 22nd Avenue North and 4th Street in St. Petersburg, around 3 a.m. April 22. The woman and another man are accused of taking the card from a 55-year-old man whom they had approached hours earlier outside his home in the 1700 block of 22nd Avenue North, according to St. Petersburg Police.  The victim was "mildly acquainted" with the woman but had never before come into contact with the other man, police say. First Arson, Now Murder Charge For St. Pete Man

Daniel Thomas Papaleo, 60, is charged in the beating death of 33-year-old Robert Greaves, whose body was found badly burned Wednesday evening inside Papaleo's home.

A man accused of setting fire to his St. Petersburg home is now also facing first-degree murder charges, authorities said Friday. Greaves apparently died before the blaze as a result of multiple blows to the back of the head, investigators said. A hammer was found at the crime scene. K-9 Catches Homicide Suspect Hiding in Baby's Crib, Police Say

The man, wanted in connection with the March 15 shooting death of Felicia Vickers, was bitten by a police dog before being taken into custody Tuesday.

A man wanted in connection with a March 15 homicide was found hiding in a child's crib and was bitten on the arm by a K-9 before being taken into custody Tuesday, St. Petersburg Police said. Detectives found Morris Hires, 18, hiding in a child's crib inside his home in the 500 block of 26th Avenue South around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, officials said. Hires was tracked down by a police K-9 and was bitten on the arm by the dog during the course of the arrest as he resisted attempts to be taken into custody, police spokesperson Mike Puetz said. UPDATE: Birthday Party Shooting Leaves Four Teens Injured, One Critically

Shots fired in the air and at an occupied vehicle during a party on 3rd Avenue South strike four people, leaving one teen in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.

UPDATE, 2:00 p.m. - The St. Petersburg Police Department has released more details regarding last night's shooting that left four teens injured, one critically. According to the police report, at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night a birthday celebration was occurring at the residence located at 3743 3rd Ave. S., which attracted approximately one hundred and fifty attendees to the block. Police: Man, Woman Shot By Officers While in Stolen Vehicle

The two people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, St. Petersburg Police said.

A man and a woman were shot by police officers who confronted them while they were in a stolen vehicle, St. Petersburg Police said Monday. Both people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to a media release from a police spokesperson. The two were in a stolen vehicle parked in an alley in the 1800 block of 26th Street South when officers attempted to make an arrest, police said. As officers approached, "the male driver gunned the vehicle," a spokesperson said. Two or three of the officers discharged their weapons toward the vehicle. Airman Faces Second Degree Murder Charge, Police Say

St. Petersburg Police say the woman called 911 after stabbing her boyfriend in the chest Saturday morning.

A female airman stationed at MacDill Air Force Base faces murder charges after she told police she stabbed her boyfriend in the chest at her St. Petersburg apartment, authorities said Saturday. Updated 12pm St. Petersburg Police have released the name of the victim in the domestic related homicide. Wayne Charles-Marion Drummer, 23, moved in with Williams from the Chicago area, according to police. Police say it appears Williams and Drummer were arguing about money prior to the stabbing. Arrest Made After Couple Found Slain on Houseboat in St. Pete

A suspect was taken into custody in North Carolina after an elderly couple was found slain on their houseboat/yacht Friday morning, according to St. Petersburg Police.

Police have arrested a suspect in the double homicide of an elderly man and his live-in girlfriend who were found dead Friday on a houseboat at a St. Petersburg marina, authorities said. Raynaldo Figueroa-Sanabria, 30, was stopped while driving a rental car in North Carolina and taken into custody, St. Petersburg Police said.  In additional to first-degree murder warrants in the deaths of the victims, identified as John Joseph Travlos, 75, and Germana Morin, 74, Figueroa-Sanabria also had an outstanding warrant for trafficking in cocaine. Police: Man Stole Equipment From Unmarked Cars

The 19-year-old suspect is accused of breaking into St. Petersburg Police detectives' unmarked cars — including one that landed in Lake Maggiore last month — and stealing vests and other equipment.

A St Petersburg man is charged with stealing equipment from two unmarked police cars, officials said Tuesday.  According to St. Petersburg Police, Rashaud Desean Benjamin, 19, broke into an undercover detective's vehicle that was parked outside of his home sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday evening. Stolen were the detective's ballistic vest, a police radio, a cell phone charger and a flashlight. No firearms were in the car at the time, police said.
