Police: Man Stabs Brother After Being Hit with Hammer

Police said Carlos Webb stabbed his brother, Emmanuel Webb, in self defense.

After being hit with a hammer, Carlos Webb allegedly stabbed his brother with a knife in self defense, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. 

Emanuel Webb, 57, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said they responded to the scene around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue South and determined that during a dispute, Emanuel Webb attacked his brother, Carlos Webb, 58, with a hammer.

According to police, Carlos Webb responded in self-defense by picking up a knife and stabbing Emmanuel Webb in the chest.

Carlos Webb had injuries consistent with being struck with a hammer but did not require medical treatment, according to the police report.

Police said the nature of the dispute has not yet been determined, but alcohol does appear to be a factor.

Detectives said they do not anticipate filing any criminal charges at this time.
