Sunday Musings

More years ago than I care to count I did a live radio program called the SUNDAY SHOW. It was scripted buy United Press International (UP) and we added local news and public affairs content. It aired just after lunch at 1:00PM on a small radio station in northern Indiana.

This is bit of a revival of the format for social media. Usually nothing new here just short thoughts on current events. If you have a thought add a comment, if you have something you would like me to include, drop me an e-mail at dr.webb@verizon.net

Sunday Musings

Even  normally glib Chris Steinocher, President of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, had difficulty getting the words out of his mouth at City Council when the Chamber tried to once again hijack the Lens project. St. Petersburg Could use a real Chamber of Commerce that represents all of St. Pete's businesses and can see to the West past 16th street.

The Foster flip flop continues as the Chamber wanted City Council to vote the Pier referendum out of existence and the Mayor around noon on Thursday said he would make the recommendation. After the smoke cleared the Mayor made no recommendation and  left the Chamber hung out to dry. Was Foster for it or not?

Something else good besides the LENS referendum vote happened on Thursday, apparently WOW and Mr. Sullivan quietly exited the scene. I am however waiting anxiously for his next super gadget TV commercial.

I noted with interest Julie Janssen, former Pinellas County School Superintendent has gone to work for Bill Edwards heading up the Edwards Foundation for The Arts. I was surprised Leslie Curran didn't get the nod. Bill should be sure to hire a good auditor.

Jim Kennedy surprised everyone and managed to stay awake through the entire Thursday City Council meeting. Larraine Margeson has filed to run against Kennedy in District 2, perhaps that was the wakeup call he needed.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will do a convertible ride in this year's St. Pete Pride Festival. St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster will pass on the parade, he is taking his son to college. Maybe Buckhorn will get the Rays and the Pride Festival for Tampa.

Has anyone seen Rick Baker lately?

Monday(June 24, 2013) is the last day to file qualifying documents for the upcoming St. Petersburg City Council and Mayor's race. If you want to run for a St. Pete Office, you need to file by 5:00PM.
